In the first half of 2024, 2.85 times more passengers arrived from Russia to Istanbul than in pre-COVID 2019, which, by the way, was a record year in terms of tourist flow from the Russian Federation, ATOR reports. However, this figure is explained by the fact that many use the Turkish metropolis as a transit point for their further travels. In the absence of direct flights to many destinations, Istanbul has become one of the most popular stopover destinations for Russians.
As ATOR wrote earlier, half of the visits to Istanbul from Russia this summer are transit before a flight to other countries with 1-2 overnight stays at best.
According to the Istanbul Culture and Tourism Department, 970,099 Russians visited the city from January to June 2024, which is 3.7% less than for the same period in 2023 due to a slight decline at the beginning of the year.
House prices in Turkey increased by 38.7% in nominal terms (in local currency) in July 2024 compared to July 2023.
It will soon be possible to conclude a rental agreement for an apartment in Turkey digitally through the E-Devlet e-government portal.
